1. HIT architect – orchestrating between the various technical, business and human components and actors to create solutions for healthcare
2. HIT Leader – I work closely with the leadership of Care Delivery Organisations to provide leadership and strategic IT to meet their operational and business goals
3. HIT Thought Leadership – I study trends in healthcare and IT and speak and frequently speak conferences and events to evangelize the opportunities available to technology providers in healthcare
 
Achievements 
 
1. Transformed UMSC from inefficient paper and film information management to a digital workflow in the following steps 
  • Secured BOD approval for 6% of revenue CAPEX budget for a period of 3 years and an the formation of an independent IT division, to implement IT capability for this 100 bed Tertiary care centre spanning 3 buildings on a 1km sprawl 
  • Consolidated all IT and Communication, build datacentres and put infrastructure to support realtime IT systems across all UMSC points of care 
  • Designed and implemented a solution landscape to enable Financial and Resource Management, Patient and Clinical Information Management, Business and Operational Intelligence and then information exchanges with external Care Delivery Partners 
2. Was part of a Management team that turned around company in 3 years, doubling revenue by improving efficiency and increasing capacity of delivery units
 
3. Begin the process of conversion of IT from CAPEX to OPEX with carved out outsourced functions and pay as-you-use capacity on demand, drastically reducing the cost of IT 
 
4. Began conversion the IT division from a cost centre to profit centre by selling infrastructure as a service for partners on site or campus, and eventually consulting projects for other hospital HIT projects keen to replicate our success in UMSC.

Speaking at the ASLI ASEAN Healthcare Forum 2012 with Dr Mubbashir Iftikhar , CIO of KPJ, Andrew CHAN, Executive Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers Capital & Natasha Gulati, Healthcare Industry Analyst for Frost & Sullivan. We had a great discussion of Healthcare IT and the value it brings to the industry.
